Jersey City Dental Implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed in your bone. It fills in the space of a missing tooth and can support a fixed restoration, such as a crown, bridge, or All-on-4 prosthesis depending on how many teeth are missing.

Single Tooth Implants

When replacing a single tooth, we’ll place the implant right where the tooth was previously. If the tooth that we’re replacing is a single-rooted tooth (front tooth) then we can sometimes remove the root and place the implant immediately.

For multi-rooted teeth, we often have to remove the tooth and place a bone graft material in the socket where the roots were. Then over a period of several weeks, the grafted bone will integrate with your natural bone, forming a solid foundation for your implant.

Once the bone is stable enough, we’ll place the implant and then wait again. Over a period of a few months, the bone will grow and fuse tightly to the implant. After the integration is complete, we will place a permanent crown over the implant, making your new “tooth” look completely whole.

We can also pair implants together to anchor multi-tooth dental bridges, eliminating the need for a partial denture.

All-on-Four Implants

If you’re missing all of the teeth in a single arch (your upper or lower jaw), then we can strategically place four implants and make a custom bridge that consists of 14 connected teeth. The bridge has four attachments that correspond with the location of the implants. Since implants are so strong, you don’t need one for every tooth that’s missing.

All-on-4 implants are not removable like a denture. Not only can you sleep in them or wear whatever you like, they’re more streamlined than a full denture is. This makes them easier to speak with and supports normal biting and chewing patterns. Best of all, they complement a more youthful facial profile.

Unmatched Experience and State-of-the-Art Technology

Placing dental implants can be a complicated procedure for some dentists. In fact, because of this, many family dentists choose not to place implants in their practice. Instead, they refer their patient out to an oral surgeon, periodontist, or prosthodontist.

At Woo Dental, we will take care of all of your dental needs, including implant placement. Dr. Woo is vastly experienced in implants, with over 1,500 cases under his belt.

In addition to specialized training and experience, our practice is equipped with a state-of-the-art 3-D radiographic scanner (CBCT) which is a crucial tool for aiding in proper implant placement. This technology allows us to see three-dimensional views of important nerves that run throughout your mouth, the density of your bone, and we can measure specific areas to determine where the best location is to place the implant. Digitally mapped implant treatment is usually gentler and has a shorter recovery time.
